THREAD: My collagen gummies changed color and got hard - are they still safe to eat?Started by OP

Hey everyone, I opened my jar of collagen gummies yesterday and noticed they look different. Some have white spots on them (like sugar bloom?), others are darker than usual, and they're all kinda hard and sticking together. They used to be soft and chewy. Expiration date is still 6 months away. Has this happened to anyone? Are they safe to take or should I toss them?

Toss them. Simple rule: if it looks off, don't risk it. Gummies are sensitive to moisture and temperature changes. Hard texture means they've dried out or crystallized. Not worth the potential stomach issues. Buy a new jar and store in a cool, dry place.

Ugh I feel you!! My kids' gummies do this all the time when they leave the lid off (or when I'm too tired to close it properly lol). The white spots are usually just sugar bloom from humidity - technically safe but texture is gross. If they're super hard, they might not dissolve well. I'd probably still give them to my kids in a pinch but for collagen I'd be more careful. Maybe contact the brand?

Night shift here - my gummies get weird sometimes from temp swings in my car/locker. If they're not expired and don't smell funky, I usually still take them. The sticking together thing happens when they get warm and cool down. But if they're rock hard, the collagen might not absorb right. Could try putting a slice of bread in the jar overnight to soften them?

Sleep-deprived parent checking in! Mine did this last month - turned darker and clumped. I took them for a week anyway (because, you know, no time to shop) and was fine. But they tasted weird. Honestly if you can afford to replace them, do it. Our immune systems are already wrecked from no sleep, don't add questionable gummies to the mix 😂
