THREAD: Collagen Gummies: Healthy or Just Candy in Disguise?Started by NatureNancy

Okay, I've been seeing collagen gummies everywhere lately, and I'm getting concerned. They're marketed as this convenient health boost, but when I check the labels, some have like 5g of sugar per serving! Isn't that just turning supplements into candy? We're supposed to be supporting our joints and skin, not feeding a sugar habit. What's everyone's take on this 'candy-fication' of supplements?

Nancy, you're hitting on a key issue here. As a biohacker, I track everything that goes into my body. Many of these gummies use cheap fillers and sweeteners that can spike insulin and negate the benefits of collagen. I've switched to unflavored collagen peptides in my coffee – zero sugar, pure protein. The convenience argument is weak when you consider the metabolic cost of those added sugars.

Totally agree with Steve! On keto, sugar is the enemy, and these gummies are often loaded with it. They might taste good, but they're kicking people out of ketosis and promoting inflammation – the opposite of what collagen should do. If you need convenience, get a quality powder and mix it with water. Don't let the supplement industry trick you into eating candy.

As a marathon runner, I get the convenience argument though. After 20 miles, the last thing I want is to mix a chalky powder. I tried collagen gummies for recovery, but yeah, the sugar content worried me too. Found a brand with only 1g sugar from fruit juice – compromise? Or should I just tough it out with the powder? Curious what others in training do.

Thanks for the input, everyone! Elias, I see your point about convenience during intense training. Maybe the key is reading labels carefully and finding minimal-ingredient options. But Steve and Liam are right – we shouldn't sacrifice purity for taste. Maybe the real issue is companies prioritizing 'yummy' over 'healthy.' Has anyone found a truly low-sugar gummy that actually works?
