THREAD: Traveling with Elderberry Gummies - Do They Melt? TSA Tips?Started by JoyfulJack

Hey folks! I'm heading out on a big nature photography trip next week - flying to Colorado then doing some hiking. I always take my elderberry gummies for immune support, but I'm worried about them melting in my luggage or getting confiscated by TSA. Anyone have experience with this? Do they hold up in heat? And what's the deal with carrying them on planes?

Namaste, JoyfulJack! ✨ I travel with my elderberry gummies all the time for yoga retreats. For planes: I always put them in my carry-on in their original container - TSA hasn't given me any issues yet! As for melting... they can get a bit sticky in hot cars. On my last road trip to Sedona, I kept them in a cooler bag with my snacks. The key is keeping them under 75°F if possible. Safe travels and may your journey be balanced! 🍃

Bro! I take these on every Crossfit competition trip. TSA doesn't care about gummy vitamins - flown with them 20+ times. BUT they WILL melt if you leave them in a hot car or direct sun. Pro tip: Use a small insulated lunch bag with an ice pack if you're hiking or road tripping. Also, don't pack them checked luggage - baggage compartments get HOT. Keep em with you!

Thanks both! Claire - the cooler bag idea is perfect for my hiking days. Pete - good call on avoiding checked bags. I'm thinking I'll keep them in my camera bag (which stays with me) and maybe wrap them in a small towel for insulation during hikes. Appreciate the real-world advice! Any other storage hacks for keeping them from sticking together?

Oh! For sticking - I sprinkle a tiny bit of arrowroot powder in the container (just a pinch!). It's natural and keeps them from becoming one big elderberry blob. Also, if they do get warm and soft, pop them in a hotel fridge for 30 mins to firm up. Remember to stay hydrated during travel too - that's just as important as the supplements! 🌿
