THREAD: Weird side effect from my kid's gummy vitamins - anyone else?Started by OP

Hey everyone, my 7-year-old has been taking the berry-flavored kids gummy vitamins for about a month now. Nothing major, but I've noticed his pee is like... neon yellow? Almost glow-in-the-dark bright. He's drinking plenty of water, no other symptoms, and his pediatrician said it's probably just the vitamins. But it's kinda freaking me out! Has anyone else's kids had this happen? Just want to make sure it's normal.

OMG yes! My niece had the same thing when she was on those gummies last year. It's totally harmless - it's just the excess B vitamins (riboflavin, I think?) getting flushed out. I'm super into reading labels (gym life lol) and most kids formulas are loaded with B-complex. As long as he's not having tummy issues or rashes, it's fine. I'd be more worried about the sugar content in some brands tbh!

Haha, welcome to the high-tech world of vitamin tracking! I actually use a urine color chart app (sounds weird, but it's a thing) for my own supplements. Bright yellow is normal with B vitamins - think of it like your kid's body has an LED indicator showing the vitamins are processing. Maybe check if the brand has an online FAQ? Most reputable companies list common side effects. If you're really concerned, you could switch to a lower-B formula, but honestly, it's probably fine.

As a fitness pro, I see this with adult supplements too - it's very common. The body excretes what it doesn't need, and B vitamins are water-soluble. Make sure he's staying hydrated, especially if he's active. Some brands use synthetic dyes that might intensify it too. If you want a cleaner option, I recommend looking for dye-free, organic gummies - they might still cause bright urine from the vitamins, but at least you avoid unnecessary additives. Always good to check with your doc though!

Marathon runner here - can confirm! I get neon pee when I take my B-complex gummies during training season. It's just your body getting rid of the excess. As long as your kid feels good and isn't dehydrated (dark yellow/brown urine is the real worry), it's nothing to stress about. Maybe time his gummy with a full glass of water to help flush things through? Hope that eases your mind!
