THREAD: Anyone else getting weird NAC side effects?Started by FitnessFanatic45

Hey all, been taking NAC for about 3 weeks now for immune support and general wellness. I've noticed something kinda odd - my dreams have gotten SUPER vivid, like almost lucid sometimes. It's not bad or scary, just... really intense and memorable when I wake up. Anyone else experience this with NAC? Just curious if it's a common thing or just me!

lol yeah man, had the same thing when i started taking it! i take it for liver support since i drink way too much coffee (and sometimes other stuff). the dreams were wild for like the first month - felt like i was watching movies in my sleep. it tapered off after a while though. also noticed my pee got brighter yellow, but i think that's just the sulfur? anyway, nothing harmful, just your body adjusting.

Night shift worker here - can confirm the vivid dreams! I take NAC for respiratory health (all that dry air at work). The dreams were so realistic I'd wake up confused about what was real. It settled down after 4-5 weeks for me. Maybe try taking it earlier in the day if it's disrupting sleep? I take mine with dinner instead of before bed.

OMG YES! This is actually a documented effect - NAC supports glutathione production which can affect neurotransmitters and sleep cycles! I've been taking it for years for antioxidant support and still get occasional vivid dream phases. It's completely harmless and some people even enjoy it! Have you noticed any other changes? Sometimes it can subtly alter taste perception too - everything tastes a bit 'cleaner' to me!
