THREAD: Omega-3 gummies: Healthy supplement or just candy in disguise?Started by PurePete

Hey all, been taking omega-3 gummies for a few months now since my night shift makes it hard to eat fish regularly. But I just checked the label and was shocked - 5g of added sugar per serving! That's like a teaspoon. Aren't we supposed to be taking these for health? Feels like they're just candy-fying supplements to make them palatable. What's the point if we're undoing the benefits with sugar?

Totally agree Pete! As someone who's serious about fitness and clean eating, I avoid gummy vitamins altogether. The sugar, artificial colors, and gelatin (often from questionable sources) defeat the purpose. I stick to liquid omega-3 or capsules - pure and no junk. Convenience shouldn't mean compromising on quality. If you want something sweet, eat real fruit!

I get where you're coming from, but as a fellow night shifter, sometimes convenience is key. After a 12-hour shift, I'm exhausted and just want something easy. The gummies ensure I actually take my omega-3 instead of skipping it. Yeah, the sugar isn't ideal, but it's better than nothing, right? Plus, some brands make sugar-free versions with stevia - have you tried those?

Steve, I hear you on the convenience, but 5g is a lot. That adds up if you take them daily. Olivia, I've seen those sugar-free ones but they often have artificial sweeteners which I'm not keen on either. Maybe I need to just suck it up and take capsules with a big glass of water. Just frustrating that the 'healthy' option is loaded with sugar.

Pete, try Nordic Naturals or Carlson labs - they have great liquid omega-3 that you can mix into a smoothie or just take straight. No sugar, pure fish oil. Steve, I get the tiredness, but health is about consistency in good choices, not just convenience. Once you make pure supplements a habit, it's just as easy as gummies. Plus, your gym gains will thank you for avoiding the sugar crashes!
