THREAD: Sleep Gummies: Are we just eating candy instead of supplements?Started by YogaYara

Hey everyone, I've been trying these sleep gummies for my kids (and myself) but I'm really concerned about the sugar content. The bottle says 3g per serving! Isn't this just candy with a vitamin label? We're supposed to be promoting healthy habits, not disguising supplements as treats. What happened to pure melatonin drops or herbal teas? Feels like we're being tricked into consuming more sugar for 'convenience.' Anyone else worried about this trend?

I get where you're coming from, YogaYara, but as a student pulling all-nighters, these gummies are a lifesaver. I can't afford fancy drops or have time to brew tea before bed. The sugar is minimal compared to the energy drinks I used to crash from. Plus, they actually work for me - I sleep better and wake up less groggy. Maybe it's not perfect, but for budget and convenience, they beat the alternatives.

Interesting points! As a fitness pro, I've tried both sides. YogaYara, you're right to question purity - many gummies have artificial colors and fillers. But DynamicDan, convenience matters for consistency. My take: check the labels! Look for gummies with natural sweeteners like stevia or monk fruit, and avoid high-fructose corn syrup. I found a brand with 1g sugar from fruit juice - it's a compromise. Also, dosage control is easier with gummies vs. drops. What brands are you all using?

Thanks for the input. DynamicDan, I hear you on convenience, but shouldn't we demand better options? EcoEllen526, I'll look into those natural sweetener brands - good tip. Still, it feels like we're normalizing sugar in everything. My kids now ask for 'sleep candy' and that bothers me. Maybe I'll go back to making my own herbal blends. Has anyone tried non-gummy alternatives that actually work without the sugar rush?

EcoEllen526, I'm using the store brand - cheap and does the job. YogaYara, I get the kid thing, but mine just won't take pills or bitter drops. Maybe it's about balance? Like, these gummies help me sleep so I can study better, which improves my health overall. Not everyone can make homemade stuff. But yeah, if there's a cheaper low-sugar option, I'd switch. Any recommendations under $15?
