THREAD: Traveling with Vitamin D Gummies - Do They Melt? TSA Rules?Started by OP

Hey everyone! I'm planning a big trip next month - flying to Colorado, then doing a road trip through the mountains with some hiking mixed in. I take vitamin D gummies daily and want to bring them along. But I'm worried - do these things melt in heat? What about TSA rules for supplements? And how should I store them during hiking days? Any travel pros have advice?

Digital nomad here! I've carried my vitamin D gummies through 15 countries. TSA-wise, you're totally fine - supplements in original containers are allowed in carry-ons. The melting thing is real though! I learned the hard way in Thailand when my gummies turned into a sticky blob in my backpack. Now I always keep them in my personal item (not checked luggage) and avoid leaving them in hot cars. For hiking, I use a small insulated lunch bag with an ice pack if it's really hot out.

Fitness pro checking in! Nancy's right about the heat issue. Most gummies start to soften around 85°F and can melt completely at higher temps. Pro tip: Look for brands with pectin instead of gelatin - they tend to hold up better in heat. For your road trip, keep them in the coolest part of the car (floor behind front seats, not glove compartment). And please don't skip your D just because you're traveling - so important for immune function especially when changing climates!

Ah, this takes me back! I remember when we used to just take regular vitamin D pills on camping trips - no melting worries! But my grandkids got me hooked on the gummies last year. Funny story: I accidentally left mine on the dashboard during a Arizona trip last summer... let's just say I had vitamin D 'soup' in the bottle! My advice? Keep them in the original bottle (TSA likes that) and maybe put the bottle in a ziplock just in case they do get soft. Happy travels!
