THREAD: My toddler thinks my Vitamin D gummies are candy - help!Started by OrganicOlivia44

So I keep my Vitamin D gummies on the kitchen counter for my morning routine, and my 4-year-old daughter spotted them yesterday. She grabbed the bottle, shook it like a maraca, and yelled 'CANDY TIME!' before I could stop her. I managed to get them away before she ate any, but now she keeps asking for 'mommy's special candy' every hour. Anyone else deal with this? I'm worried she'll sneak some when I'm not looking!

Haha, been there! My husband did the same thing last month - he thought they were fancy gummy bears I'd made (I do experiment with gelatin desserts). He ate like 5 before realizing they were supplements. Had to explain they're not snacks! Maybe try storing them higher up? I keep mine in a locked cabinet now after that incident.

On the flip side, my niece REFUSES to eat her kids' Vitamin D gummies because she says they're 'too chewy and weird.' She calls them 'slimy rocks' lol. Texture matters so much with gummies! Which brand are you using, Olivia? Some have better mouthfeel than others - might be worth switching if your daughter does get into them accidentally.

Ugh yes! I travel with mine and my partner keeps mistaking them for my emergency snack stash. Last week in Bali he almost took some thinking they were tropical gummies I'd bought at the market. I've started putting them in a clearly labeled 'SUPPLEMENTS - NOT FOOD' container. Maybe try a child-proof container with a scary label? Like 'GROWN-UP MEDICINE' in big letters?

Thanks everyone! @SupplementSteve43 the cabinet idea is smart - moving them tonight. @BioBob we use the Nature's Way brand, they do have that firm texture. Maybe I'll look for softer ones if I switch. @NatureNancy46 the scary label might actually work with my dramatic kid! She's afraid of 'doctor stuff.' Appreciate the tips!
