THREAD: My toddler thought the melatonin gummies were candy - hilarious/terrifying story!Started by GlowGigi352

Okay, I need to share this before I have a heart attack. Yesterday, I left the bottle of Nested Naturals Luna Kids Sleep Gummies on the kitchen counter after giving my 4-year-old his dose. My husband was working late, so I was multitasking dinner and emails. I turn around and my son has the bottle open and is happily munching away saying 'more candy please!' I nearly fainted. Thankfully he only had maybe 2 extra before I caught him, and he was just extra sleepy at bedtime (slept like a rock though!). Has anyone else had a close call with these looking too much like regular gummies? I'm thinking of getting a lockbox now...

Oh wow, Gigi! That's scary but also kinda funny (now that he's okay!). We use these too for my 6-year-old when she has trouble winding down. I keep them WAY up high in a cupboard with other supplements. But the texture thing - my daughter REFUSES them sometimes because she says they're 'too chewy' compared to her fruit snacks. She calls them 'medicine gummies' and makes a whole drama. I have to remind her they have chamomile and lemon balm from our garden (we grow our own!) and that they're to help her dreams. Maybe try making it a calming ritual?

First, glad your kid is fine! But this is why I'm wary of gummy vitamins/supplements in general - they blur the line between food and medicine. On keto, we're super strict about sugar and ingredients. These have 2g sugar per gummy, which might not seem like much, but it adds up if kids think they're candy. Have you checked the full ingredient list? Might be better to opt for a sugar-free melatonin spray or drops. Just my two cents!

LOL my husband did something similar last week! He saw the bottle and thought they were my homemade berry gummies (I make them with gelatin and juice). He ate one and was like 'Why are these so herbal-y?' I died laughing. But seriously, I agree with keeping them secure. Maybe label the bottle with a big 'SLEEP AID' sticker? Also, if texture's an issue, you could try slightly warming the gummy in your hand first to soften it? I haven't tried with these specifically, but it works with my DIY versions.
