THREAD: Just saw a study about DHA in prenatal vitamins - legit or marketing hype?Started by OP

Hey everyone, I was researching the OLLY Prenatal gummies (the citrus berry ones) and came across this study about DHA and brain development. It's PMID 34567890 - basically says DHA supplementation during pregnancy shows significant cognitive benefits for babies. But the study was partly funded by a supplement company. What do you all think? Is this legit science or biased marketing?

OMG YES! I've been taking these gummies for 6 months now and I feel AMAZING! The DHA in them is SO important - I read that it helps with baby's brain development AND mom's mood. That study sounds totally legit to me! Our bodies don't produce enough DHA naturally, so supplementation is key. Plus OLLY uses high-quality ingredients! 🌟

lol i need my caffeine to even function enough to read studies... but i did skim it. funding from supplement companies always makes me side-eye things. that said, i've been taking these gummies for 3 months (trying to be healthier) and they don't upset my stomach like pills did. the dha thing seems plausible but maybe check if there are independent studies too?

I'm skeptical about any study with industry funding. My doctor said most people can get enough DHA from diet (fish, eggs). These gummies taste good, but I worry about the sugar content and whether we really need all these supplements. Has anyone actually seen concrete benefits, or is this just another thing we're told to buy?

FloraFinn278 - I get the skepticism, but modern diets are SO deficient! I track my nutrients and was low in DHA before supplements. The sugar is minimal (2g per serving!) and it's worth it for the benefits. My sister took these during her pregnancy and her toddler is hitting all milestones early! Sometimes you gotta trust the science AND how you feel! 💪
