THREAD: DIY Sleep Gummies Gone Wrong - Need Recipe Help!Started by OP

Hey everyone, tried making my own sleep gummies at home to save money instead of buying OLLY's Extra Strength ones. Used gelatin, some melatonin powder (5mg per serving target), L-theanine, and chamomile extract. Mixed everything, poured into molds, but they came out super rubbery and bitter! Any tips or recipes that actually work? Want that blackberry flavor too but my attempt tasted like medicine.

OP, you're on the right track but missing key biohacks. Gelatin's fine, but add 0.5% lecithin for emulsification—prevents separation. For bitterness, use stevia or monk fruit extract, not sugar. Also, consider adding GABA alongside L-theanine for synergistic effects. I've had success with a 3:1 melatonin to lemon balm ratio. Pro tip: dissolve powders in warm water first, not directly into gelatin mix.

Why complicate it? Just buy the OLLY gummies. I tried DIY once, wasted $30 on ingredients and time. Not worth it unless you're making huge batches. If you insist, skip the extracts—just melatonin and a tiny bit of honey for sweetness. Less is more. My two cents.

As a mom, I'm skeptical about homemade supplements—dosage accuracy is risky, especially with melatonin for sleep. Are you measuring precisely? What if kids get into them? OLLY's are tested and consistent. If you must DIY, maybe try a simple chamomile tea gummy without active ingredients first? Safety first!

LOL, I feel you OP—my first batch was a disaster too, and I was up all night from caffeine anyway! For flavor, use blackberry juice concentrate instead of extract, masks the bitterness better. Also, agar agar sets faster than gelatin, might help texture. But honestly, after my fail, I just grab OLLY when I need to crash after too much coffee. Quick fix!
