THREAD: My kid thinks SmartSweets are candy - funny/annoying story!Started by EarthElias370

OP here. So I bought the SmartSweets Peach Rings for myself - low sugar, gluten-free, seemed like a good supplement option. My 7-year-old found the pack and thought it was candy. He ate half a bag before I noticed! Now he's asking for more 'peach candy' every day and refuses to believe it's vitamins. Anyone else deal with this? Should I just hide them better?

Oh my gosh, yes! My husband did the same thing with the gummy vitamins I keep for my yoga recovery. He thought they were my 'secret stash' of candy and ate like 10 before I told him they were supplements. He said the texture was 'weirdly chewy' for candy lol. Maybe try explaining they're 'special grown-up treats'? Kids understand boundaries sometimes.

LOL opposite problem here - my teen refuses to take any gummy vitamins because she says the texture is 'slimy' compared to real candy. She'd rather have her caffeine pills (monitored, don't worry!). But seriously, maybe store them with your meds/supplements instead of in the pantry? Clear labeling helps too.

Nature photographer perspective - I keep mine in opaque glass jars with my other supplements, away from snacks. Less appealing packaging might help? Also, SmartSweets being discontinued is a shame - they were one of the better eco-friendly packaged options. Maybe try explaining the ingredients simply? 'These have peach vitamins to help you grow strong like a tree!'

Thanks all! Good ideas. I'll move them to my supplement drawer and try the 'special grown-up treats' line. Ellen, I didn't realize they were being discontinued - guess I'll need to find another brand soon. Appreciate the tips!
